We know them as the boys from Mullingar, Wolverhampton, Bradford, Cheshire and Doncaster, not the boys from Nickelodeon. We know them as the boys who sat on their staircase and made us laugh every week, not as the boys from the One Thing video. We know them as Barry, Hughey, Ian, Wayne and Kyle, not just as One Direction. We know that their first song was Torn, not What Makes You Beautiful. We remember praying that they’d make it through each week. We remember falling head over heels for these boys, while they were unknown to the rest of the world. We cried when they won their first Brit award, because we remember how they started. As normal boys, with big dreams. And now, we see you talking about them each and every day on our news feed, and it breaks our hearts. We know every single aspect of their personalities, while you can’t even spell their names.

This was probably my favourite fan encounter that I’ve ever witnessed. It’s so absolutely breathtaking; the way she completely flips out when Lou asks for her to come and give them a cuddle, when she leaps into his arms, when they part and she takes hold of his precious face as if to say, ‘Are you even real?’. I love it, this is exactly the kind of thing I love because it so clearly shows the love people share for One Direction. It’s beautiful.
